Repeat in odd numbers. Three sparkles read as decoration; two read as an accident and four as clutter. The same applies to hearts and stars: groups of three almost always look intentional.
Alternate two characters instead of using one. A row of identical sparkles reads as a line of punctuation, while two alternating marks read as a pattern. The familiar aesthetic divider is exactly this — two similar-but-different stars taking turns.
Mix weights, not colours. A light symbol next to a heavy one gives a pattern depth without turning into a rainbow. This is why plain-text hearts and outline stars pair so well with full-colour emoji: you get contrast in weight as well as in hue.
Start with one anchor character — a heart, a star, a moon — and repeat it three times with a space between each. That is already a usable divider. To go further, swap the middle one for a different mark, then try adding a small punctuation character on either end. The soft patterns people associate with aesthetic bios are built exactly this way from a sparkle, a subscript plus, a small ring and a half-width circle, and the individual characters are all listed on the aesthetic symbols page.
Bios and captions first, where a three-emoji row at the top of a profile has become a convention. Discord channel topics second. Then comment headers, where a short decorated line makes a reply easy to spot. In all three cases the value is the same: a break in the wall of plain text that costs a handful of characters.
